A small school with a BIG heart.

History

At Hackthorn CE Primary, we believe history is about more than just dates and facts — it’s about discovering the stories of the past and how they shape the world we live in today. Our History curriculum is designed to inspire curiosity, encourage critical thinking, and help children understand the world around them through the lens of time.

What Do Children Learn in History?

Through engaging topics and hands-on learning, children will:

  • Explore the lives of significant people and events from the past
  • Develop a strong sense of chronology (what happened when and why it matters)
  • Ask and answer questions about how and why things changed over time
  • Learn how historians use evidence to make sense of the past
  • Compare different periods and cultures
